There are trails for biking or hiking.Ī visitor center at the park headquarters, near the Southshore Marina, is open 9 a.m.

Pikes Peak, Greenhorn Mountain and the Sangre de Cristo mountains can be seen from the park. Limestone cliffs, small hills and grassy plains surround the lake. The shoreline is 60 miles in length and the lake is 11 miles long. There are 9,000 acres of land in the park. About 2 million people visit the park each year. Other boaters are fishing on the lake or water skiing. Sailboating is popular because of the wind currents on the lake. The lake has 4,600 surface acres of water for various water sports. Lake Pueblo State Park is one of the most popular of Colorado’s 43 state parks. People are urged to exercise caution around the water and wear life jackets. As of mid-July, the water is down to a safe level but the lake has floating debris. The water level at the lake is very high this year - some facilities at the lake were closed for a few weeks this summer because of high water levels. By showing their military identification card, active-duty military and retirees will receive a hang tag, entitling their vehicle to free entry to any Colorado State Park during the month. Sometimes called Pueblo Reservoir, Lake Pueblo is in the state park just west of Pueblo.Īnd the timing is right for a visit to the park - active-duty and retired military can get in free during August 2015, at Colorado State Parks.
